Why Choose Me?

Picture
I am in love with photography.  It's really that simple.  Being a photographer allows me to reach out and grab a split second of someone's life and forever capture that raw emotion of some of the most beautiful memories.
Let me give you an example:  You approach the aisle with your father nervously holding on to you.  He is trying to be strong, but you can feel him shaking and when you glance up at him, you see that small tear forming in the corner of his eye.  You start down the aisle.... everyone's eyes are on you.  You glance up at your soon-to-be husband,  he has the biggest smile and you can see exactly how much he is in love with you.  You grab his hands, fighting back the tears you attempt to block everything else out that's making you nervous, because you don't want to screw up your vows.  He doesn't seem to blink, he just keeps staring deep into your eyes.  Before you realize it the ceremony has came to the end, the preacher turns to your husband and tells him he may kiss his bride.  When your lips touch, everything goes silent.  The kiss seems like it lasts forever, and then you realize everyone is clapping......

It's those moments that you want to remember forever and it's those moments that I capture effortlessly time and time again.  Nothing is more satisfying to me  than the look on the bride and groom's face when they see their photos.  It's almost as if they just relived the entire thing in a split second.  All of those memories come racing back.  Photography is powerful.

A little about Moi!

My name is Jeremy Proffitt.  I was born, raised and reside in Madison County, NC.   Most people can't understand why someone would stay in little ol' Madison County, but I think it's absolutely beautiful here.  It's so peaceful and quiet, and a great place to watch my 7 year old daughter Zoe grow up.  I have a beautiful wife Amy, who to be honest is crazy to have married me.  She is such an amazing and intelligent woman.  If it wasn't for her, God only knows where I would be today.
I started my journey into photography when I was very small.  I had a 110 film camera, the kind you would find at Revco, for those who even remember what Revco was!   I got as much film as I could afford or bribe my parents to get developed for me.  When I hit my teen years, I let go of photography for sports and mischief, and around 23 I picked the camera back up.  I started taking photos at concerts and of flowers.  Life happened again and I got married, and when I was 27 I again went back to photography and never looked back.  I entered a few contests with my photos and won - surprising the heck out of me!  I decided to get some formal training,  and I am now a proud graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and currently the schools forum moderator.

In 2010 my company achieved a lot for a part time business.  A few things I accomplished are:
  • Working with the Asheville Citizen Times.
  • Winning 11 awards - yes, that’s 11 award winning photos!
  • Working with Mars Hill College and getting photos published on the front cover and inside of their football programs and website.
  • Getting photos published in the newspaper, with 1 being on the front spread of the mountain section and several online galleries.
  • Finally completing all my course requirements to graduate from the New York Institute of Photography.
  • Shooting triple the amount of weddings from 2009.
  • Fine Art Print sales on Etsy, and made a whopping appearance in 81 treasuries!

2011 is here and I have taken Dancing Pancakes Studio to a full time operation.  In addition, I opened up another division of my company called In Focus Multimedia.  IFMM covers local news, sports, politics, and more.  Its purpose is to provide editorial content for newspapers, magazines, and other publications.
